The voice said “I do not want to lecture you as you are all adults and have your own experiences and beliefs, let s ask each other questions and see where that leads us.
Many Questions were asked and many questions were answered. This, however from a young person who was aware he might not be at risk but at least caring enough to want to look out for his friends, was the most important.
“Why is it wrong to go to our friends or family and share their company if we keep a reasonable distance. The voice asked “how many care if your grandparents, child, friend or partner dies”.
Indeed did they ALL.
The Voice continued “let me answer your question with a question, why are you inviting the invader. “What do you mean” they chorused. The voice responded, before answering let me tell you the story of The Maricopa Harvester Ants
There is an army of these ants marching towards your city. They have stings that are poisonous. A few hundred stings can kill. They eat everything as the move inexorably towards you and they are breeding while they march.. Each day they breed more and more and eat more and more. BUT, they are NOT fully in your area yet just a few scouts here and there. Would you leave your doors and cupboards open so they can get into a little corner and rest and breed and feed? Of course not. Still you do not do anything yet there is no real problem. They are marching towards you but now the numbers have increasing exponentially. Do you have enough insect repellent?
Remember, these are soldier ants that can kill. And they are coming towards your home. Wouldn’t it be better to strike at the start of their march. Of course it would. But its too late they are everywhere. At this point, unless we can poison the ground with gigalitres of insect repellant, we are done for”. The Voice continued “ there are only small groups of ants in your area, you know how quickly they breed and you know the damage they can do. So let me ask you this. Would you ask your friends or family to go to work to earn money for you knowing the danger of them being surrounded, isolated and possibly attacked. I think not. If they got into your house would you pick them up sit them on your hands or on a bottle of wine or on your keys and take them for a visit to your Children’s place, your parents place, your grandparents place your friends place or your work place. Unanimously, they all agreed that they would never do this knowingly. The Voice laughed and shouted. Trust me it wouldn’t matter if you did or didn’t take them. Ants can get there on their own .
